The larger MOPHOTO air tent, with a canopy that earns its place twice over. Attached, it works as a covered porch for chairs, boots and cooking. Detached, it stands on its own as a sunshade or picnic shelter — useful if you want shade at the beach without moving the tent. Inside, 400 x 270 cm and a 200 cm ceiling give six to eight people room to sleep and stand, and the whole structure inflates in about five minutes with no poles to assemble.

Two shelters in one

Leave the canopy attached for a sheltered porch, or unclip it entirely and pitch it separately as a sunshade over the picnic table. Few tents at this size offer that.

Space for a group

Four metres by 2.7 gives six to eight people sleeping room with gear, and the 200 cm ceiling means changing and moving about doesn't involve crouching.

Six ways to let the air through

Mesh windows on every side plus a full mesh front door mean you can open it right up in warm weather, then zip it down for privacy or when the wind turns.

Good to know

Add a ground tarp underneath for prolonged heavy rain — it isn't included. Peg the wind ropes out properly on exposed pitches; with a tent this size the ropes do as much work as the beams.
